		<description>My 11 year old son has always been a challenge.  He doesn&#039;t take advice well face to face.  He gets very defensive, and probably isn&#039;t listening after 2 minutes, but he does a lot of creative writing, and reading, which is why i thought of writing him a letter.  He was in trouble at school and I had a lot of stuff i wanted to discuss with him, but instead decided to write him a letter.  I left it in his room on Saturday morning, and on Sunday evening asked him about it.  We didn&#039;t talk much, but he didn&#039;t think i had been very kind in what i had written.  On Monday after school when i asked him about his day, he was very happy, and when i asked if, on reflection, he had found the letter helpful he gladly admitted that he had.  We have had 2 great weeks since then, and strangely he seems more open to communication now, but i sincerely believe i got through to him because i used one of his key learning styles - the written word.</description>
