Last year, 230,000 teenagers had cosmetic procedures, according to the society. The pinning back of ears – and repairs to cleft lips were the most common.

That really doesn’t surprise me, everyone wants to be ‘normal’ and if it is going to make them feel happier every day, I think they should do it. I think taking more drastic action
ie nose jobs/chin implants is taking it a bit far for a child.
Imogen did you read the article? She went to get her ears done, but then was told she needed a straighter nose and a less pointy chin too. It also looks like she got cheek implants.
I can understand if she wanted her ears pinned back, similar to braces to straighten teeth. But I think the other surgery was totally unnecessary and unethical.
who decides what ‘normal’ is?
media?
family?
society?
God?
While I can kind of understand why kids would want ears pinned back or hair removal, I really can’t justify on ANY scale a breast enlargement. Surely that’s just getting a little indulgent ?
Kids are cruel. It’s unpleasant, but it’s true. While the old ‘that which doesn’t kill us makes us stronger’ seems to crop up a lot in this topic of discussion, it’s quite simply that sometimes bullying does end in serious emotional scarring and sometimes even suicide. When do you tell a kid to tough it up, and when do you need to help them ?
