Our Mental Health and Wellbeing of Young People seminar circuit has drawn to a close for 2014! So thank you to everyone who managed to join us this year! We had a brilliant time out on the road and we feel very proud about the quality of our 2014 circuit, and the strength of partnerships that we continue to grow towards protecting and enhancing the mental health and wellbeing of young people in our community.

In 2014, Generation Next connected with some 5300 people who care about the wellbeing of young people across Australia and New Zealand! We hosted seminar events in Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide, Gold Coast and Auckland, and among those who joined us, were teachers (average 40-50% of total delegates), nurses ( about 15%), counsellors/psychologists (also about 15%), social/youth workers (about 12%) as well as parents, managers, CEOs, GPs etc.

If you managed to get to one of our events, then we hope you also had a great time and that learning from the day has had lasting value to you and your organisation! Because the mission of Generation Next is to directly and positively influence the lives of the young people. And this mission starts with you.

The curtains have only just come down, but we have been busy in the back office reading evaluation forms from all 2014 participants. We’re only part the way through our data crunching but we wanted to share with you what we have found out so far. Because your feedback is incredibly important to us.

Based on all forms received back in 2014, here is what Gen Next participants have had to say:

• 98% of event participants in 2014 reported overall satisfaction on the day (of which three fifths scored excellent)

• 95% said that content from the Gen Next seminar fulfilled their learning needs (of which, half scored excellent)

• 92% felt that what they learnt on the day would impact on the way they work

• 96% felt that what they learnt on the day would benefit the young people that they are in contact with

In 2014, we also asked the question ‘On average, how many young people do you have significant contact with each week?’ Based on what you told us, we estimate that our 2014 activities have positively touched the lives of some 400,000 young people. WOW! The Gen Next mission really does start with you!
