This article, while good as far as it goes, can be quite mis-leading, if taken on its own. There is much more that goes into mental health and well-being than what we can identify with a microscope and a blood test. Namely, the quality of relationships, the presence or not of abuse and trauma, and things like socio-economic resources, not to mention culture, shared beliefs, and the capacity to make meaning.
I suggest we be careful not to give the impression that merely correcting an imbalance in chemicals in the brain will solve the mental health challenges so many of us face.
You are so right. Although it would be good to use this colour poster to help people accept their mental illness and not blame themselves or be embarrassed about it.
