A new study by British researches has proven conclusively that using skunk cannabis can result in psychosis in healthy people. The study was carried out on 22 men in their late 20s who were injected with either the active component of skunk cannabis or a dummy placebo. The research team concluded: “These findings confirm that THC can induce a transient acute psychological reaction in psychiatrically well individuals.”

The United Kingdom department in charge of drug affairs, the Home office, issued the following statement: “We have always been clear that cannabis is a harmful drug, which should not be taken. Its use can lead to physical and psychological harms, and the mental health effects of cannabis use are real and significant.”

The researchers qualified the findings by stating more research is necessary to clarify whether skunk cannabis is more harmful then traditional cannabis.
