Following a failed stunt with a lie detector on 2DayFM in which a 14-year-old girl revealed she had been raped, a group of 15 public figures have signed a press release calling for the program to be axed. The group, including psychologist Michael Carr-Gregg and Kids Free 2B Kids director Julie Gale, heavily criticised the show stating, “Regardless of any excuses about lack of advance knowledge that the girl had been raped, there is little doubt the aim was to publicly shame the child.” The statement went on to describe the stunt as a “horrific invasion of (the girl’s) rights”
Similar Calls have also been made by other public figures, including psychologist Adam Ferrier who called for sponsors to withdraw from the show. Prime Minister Kevin Rudd also criticised the show, describing a police investigation into the situation as entirely appropriate.
Kyle Sandilands who hosted the show has since gone on leave, and was yesterday dropped from his position as judge on talent show Australian Idol.

its not the radio’s fault, they just asked the questions, everyone is forgetting the mother, she was there. She allowed this to happen. So you shouldnt cancel the show when it wasnt their fault. They didnt write the answers, and the ‘victim’ chose to say what she said over radio.
so stop pointing the fingers at the hosts. and look at the ‘so called’ victim and her mother.
The ‘radio’ played a big part in promoting trashy, non productive and un-intelligent behaviour. Of all the interesting and entertaining things one could choose to engage in, the ‘radio’ chose this stunt. Sad isn’t it that so many adults were a part of not stopping it from happening.
I am only 16 years old, but i agree with both sides. Yes the radio show and its host publicised somthing incredibly wrong.. The lie detector is just a stunt for more ratings, it is a live show how were they to know that this would happen? Yes everyone is forgetting the mother who put her OWN daughter, against her will, through this. Both parties should be punished.
