Big Porn Inc, recently published by Spinifex Press and written by Melinda Tankard Reist puts the spotlight on our harm of the growing porn culture.

It features essays by prominent writers and anti-porn activists including Gail Dines, Maggie Hamilton, Helen Pringle, and others.

The essays cover a wide array of issues connected to the porn industry, including the growing porn culture, stripping and prostitution, abuse of animals and children (including a tragic victim impact statement) and what drives the porn industry.

It also covers issues about how women are seen and judged by men who view pornography, how women are seen as a commodity rather than a person, about misogyny and about how pornography is becoming an expected part of everyday relationships within our culture.

Melinda said “Big Porn Inc documents the proliferation and normalization of pornography, the way it has become a global industry and a global ideology, and how it is shaping our world and the harm it causes. In 2009, the UN estimated that the global child pornography industry made a profit of up to $20 billion.”
