The evidence for warning labels on alcohol products is strong, yet there is considerable opposition from industry. This is despite the fact that it is highly likely that the community will benefit.
The sun herald has just run a story on it, in which 4 points of view were presented- 3 of them were against warning lables (the wine producer, the industry representative and an alcohol consumer) while one was in favour (the alcohol campaigner). This is hardly balanced reporting since those who are opposed all have a vested interest of one sort or another in maintaining the status quo.
So we’ve decided to give you the argument in favour of alcohol warning labels, since it is in fact the right thing to do for our society and especially our young people.
