You could be warmed by the revelation that family togetherness is still a strong force in Australian society, so instead of retreating to their rooms and playing video games, kids join their parents in watching such celebrations of talent and hard work as My Kitchen Rules and The Block. While at other times of the day they are secure in the care of the wholesome, commercial-free ABC (where the only possible controversy might arise from Peppa Pig’s tendency to laugh at her own farting noises).

Or you could be shocked that parents are exposing the most vulnerable members of the household to the foul language, bitchy competitiveness and relentless product placement of “reality” shows intended for adults, who know when they are being manipulated.
