We’ve all been guilty of it – dramatically exclaiming that work is going to drive us to drink after yet another gruelling day at the office. But it turns out there may be a little truth in the old saying after all. A new study published by the British Medical Journal suggests that working too hard can be encouraging us to reach for the booze. And they may have a point – how many of you have found that there’s nothing quite like the healing powers of a large glass of wine to take the edge off a stressful week? The study, which looked at the behaviour of more than 400,000 people, discovered that working over 48 hours a week can lead to ‘risky’ drinking – the “just one more then I’m going home, I promise” kind?
