As we all know, Queensland has experienced floods and storms recently. Many people impacted by this situation will bounce back with the typical Australian spirit however there will be many who will find it difficult to cope.

This includes our children and teenagers who are in particular need of assistance during this time. It’s important for professionals to have a working understanding of the unique issues and needs associated with recovery from disaster.

To help with this we have worked with Headspace to create a lecture and workshop option specifically designed to help delegates understand the phases of recovery, mental health “red flags” and how they can assist in the process of psychological recuperation.

The facilitators of this part of the programme have extensive experience in this field, having directed the psychological recovery programme after the Victorian bushfires disaster.
